Sound, Sight, Space and Play 2012
Postgraduate Conference for the Creative Sonic Arts
Wednesday 6th – Friday 8th June 2012
The Music, Technology and Innovation Research Centre in the Department of Music, Technology and Innovation at De Montfort University, is hosting again the Sound, Sight, Space and Play Conference (SSSP) in Leicester, UK. This year’s topic is ‘Sound and Interdisciplinary Creativity’.
We invite submissions of papers and works on areas related to collaborative creativity in the sonic arts with (but not restricted to):
• Dance
• Fine Arts
• Literature
• Theatre
• Education
Guidelines for Submission of Papers and Works
All submissions will be subject to a double-blind peer-review procedure conducted by PhD students or post docs from different institutions representing the various sub-disciplines of sonic arts and related fields.
Paper submission: Submissions must not exceed 300 words in length including a title, headings and references and should be in PDF format. Your submission must also include your name, affiliation, email address as well as a 200-word biography. No postal applications will be accepted.
Paper slots: 15 minutes presentation and 5 minutes for questions.
Keynote slots: 20 minutes presentation and 10 minutes for questions.
Work submission: Should be no longer than 15 minutes in duration (with exception to installations) and can be submitted ONLY online via file sharing services such as YouSendIt (http://www.yousendit.com) or Dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com). Submissions must be accompanied with programme notes, technical specifications and requirements in PDF format.

Dates
February 8, 2012: Deadline for abstracts and works submissions.
April 3, 2012: Notification of successful applicants and Registration opens.
April 23, 2012: Early bird registration ends
Registration Fees
There will be a charge of £30 (early bird rate) or £40 registration fee, per delegate or attendee, in order to cover the costs of the event. There is NO fee for submission. Registration fees would be payable by latest May 2012. Organisers of the event have applied for funding from various sources and if these bids are successful the registration fees will be abolished. So far we are waiting for responses from funding bodies to secure this year’s funding in order to support the event.
