The first NoiseFloor festival was held over the weekend of 16th and 17th January 2010. The festival was formed from five concerts which were held over the weekend both during the day and into the evening. Daytime multi-channel Electroacoustic concerts were held in the Television studio utilising a 14 loudspeaker diffusion array. The main ring of eight loudspeakers was kindly loaned to Staffordshire University by the Music Technology and Innovation Research Centre at De Montfort University. There were four concerts during the daytime (two on Saturday and two on Sunday) which were curated by Ben Ramsay, David Revill and David Payling from the Music Technology department at Staffordshire University. The music for these concerts was selected from an open call for works which was sent out via the Canadian Electroacoustic Community list (CEC), Sound and Music (SAM), and the American Composers forum
The evening concerts showcased audio-visual and live laptop performances in a traditional two channel (stereo) set up in a more relaxed social setting. Both external musicians and our own students were involved in the evening concerts.
2010 Concert programme
We received well in excess of 100 submissions from some very exciting composers and artists from both the fixed media Electroacoustic and live IDM fields. Of these 100+ submissions, nearly forty works were selected to form the concerts below.
